My name is John Mitchell, and throughout my career I have worked with Fortune 500 companies, entrepreneurs, family-owned businesses, and investors. As a business development executive, business broker, and commercial finance advisor, I’ve spent decades helping companies secure capital, grow operations, complete acquisitions, and successfully transition ownership.

John R. Mitchell is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sterling Business Capital LLC and President of John Mitchell Business Broker PLLC. For more than 35 years, he has advised business owners, entrepreneurs, investors, and financial institutions on business acquisitions, financing, growth strategies, succession planning, and confidential business sales.
Throughout his career, John has worked with businesses ranging from entrepreneurial start-ups and closely held Main Street companies to large middle-market and Fortune 500 organizations. His unique background combines executive corporate leadership with hands-on experience in business brokerage, commercial finance, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic business development.

Having successfully participated in transactions across numerous industries, John has built a reputation for professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and practical problem-solving. Prior to founding Sterling Business Capital, John held executive leadership positions with several internationally recognized organizations. He served as Vice President of European Operations for Precision Castparts Corporation (NYSE: PCP), overseeing approximately $100 million in annual operating revenue, a $20 million capital budget, and manufacturing operations across eight countries.
COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT ON RESULTS AT EVERY STAGE
His previous project leadership includes:
- Development of an $80 million Greenfield Manufacturing Center for Cameron International Corporation.
- Management participation in the rehabilitation of approximately 3,600 oil wells for OMV Petrom S.A., generating more than $100 million in project revenue.
- Participation in the U.S. Defense Nuclear Agency's Nunn-Lugar Weapons of Mass Destruction Program, including work associated with a $20 million grant supporting the conversion of former Russian defense manufacturing facilities to commercial production.
Today, John combines decades of executive management experience with extensive knowledge of business brokerage and commercial finance to help clients successfully buy, sell, finance, and grow their businesses. His network of lenders, investors, accountants, attorneys, valuation professionals, and transaction specialists allows clients to receive comprehensive support throughout every stage of the business lifecycle.
Education
John attended the University of Cincinnati, College of Business Administration, where he studied Finance. He is a licensed Florida Real Estate Broker and serves business owners throughout Florida and Ohio.
